shen resides in the heart ; yi(intellect) resides in the spleen ; the hun(ethereal soul) reside in the liver; the po(corporeal soul) resides in the lungs; the zhi(will power) is what gives determination and motivation; the hun enters the body just after birth and leaves the body at death, having an appearance of physical form; the po is attached to the body, provides the ability to sense and returns to the earth when the body dies ; the yi provides the ability to think study, concentrate, and memorize; the shen is a complex of mental and spiritual aspects and is associated with consciouness, thinking , emotions, memory, and sleep
